A place to recover in every sense

A place to live

Grace House offers a safe, structured home environment inside a beautifully restored 125-year-old heritage building. Residents are provided with everything they need — a bed, meals, and a supportive community — so they can focus entirely on their recovery.

Two blocks from downtown Drumheller, surrounded by walking paths and valley views, it is a peaceful place to begin the journey toward lasting change.

Structure and work

Structure and routine are central to recovery. Each day at Grace House follows a clear rhythm — morning group, classes, work therapy, and evening meetings — giving men the framework they need to rebuild healthy habits.

The Odd Job Squad provides real community work: yard care, snow removal, moving, and small jobs across the Drumheller Valley. This brings dignity, income, and practical re-entry into society.

Continued support

Recovery doesn’t end at 90 days. Grace House offers an optional fourth month for those who need more time to transition — with continued access to counselling, community, and the support network built during the program.

Local connections — doctors, dentists, MH Enterprises, counsellors — are set up before graduation to ensure a smooth, supported re-entry into daily life.

An integrated approach to recovery

At Grace House, the program is an integrated approach using our curriculum and the 12 steps. We aim to address key issues at the root — that undergird addiction.

Sessions

Weekday mornings include morning group and check-in, chores, and a 12-week series of recovery classes along with nightly 12-step meetings.

Other recovery topics and life skills provide men with the tools they need to live in abstinence and emotional sobriety.

Counselling

Each man of Grace receives one to two 1-on-1 appointments each week, providing goals, counsel, encouragement, and accountability for his program.

Work therapy

The men of Grace work on many weekdays and some weekends, providing service to the community. We have a long-standing contract to provide yard care and snow removal for residents in the Drumheller Valley, along with helping people move and other small jobs.

This, with chores and appointments, allows men to reclaim lost social skills and helps prepare them to re-enter the workforce and society. It also provides the dignity of work and a small amount of spending money.

Individual responsibility

For each man, recovery is a personal responsibility. At Grace House, individuals need to help develop their own program of recovery:

  • Participating in classes and 12-step meetings at the House and in the community.
  • Learning good recovery habits and practicing the principles of recovery in all aspects of life.
  • Essential skills of self-reflection, self-regulation, and service to others practiced daily. Learning and using self-care — whether exercise, nature, or calm practices.
